After fulfilling the general requirements listed below, the first step is to contact us. We will schedule an initial visit and give you a tour of our facility.
The initial visit to the Occupational Training Center is an important step of enrolling. A screening is conducted by a trained staff person that involves gathering background information about the person including (but not limited to) the persons medical history, medication compliance, living situation, work history, and other program participation. Then, a vocational assessment is conducted to identify the individual's vocational skill level.
After completing the screening process, all assessments and intake information will be forwarded to an admissions committee for approval. Upon approval, the participant must obtain a referral from a participating agency that is listed below.
Once approved, the individual will begin to work at The Occupational Training Center under the assigned skill level group. Groups offered are as follows:
Apprentice I
Apprentice II
Journeyman I
Journeyman II
Master I
Masters II
The goal of the Occupational Training Center is to offer adults practical work experiences so they can make informed choices about career options. On-the-job training immerses the individual in a typical job site, allowing them to experience the work culture, complete expected tasks and learn appropriate social interactions with both their supervisor and co-workers. In this way, individuals are fully prepared to successfully enter the workforce after completion of the Occupational Training Center Program.
Behavior Modification and Life Skill Training is offered at the OTC and is a requirement of all participants while attending.
